Pallet Rack Systems in Oshtemo Township, MI

We design and install new pallet racks in Oshtemo Township, planning warehouse storage before tenants move in. Our pallet rack systems match inventory, forklifts and dock positions from the first drawing. Oshtemo Township is on Kalamazoo’s west side, about six miles out. Industrial and technology users line both sides of 9th Street south of Stadium Drive, roughly 1.5 miles from I-94 and 1.5 miles from US-131.

Much of the growth here is new construction. That is the best time to plan warehouse racking: before the tenant moves in, while dock doors, lighting and power can still line up with the aisles.

Warehouse Racking for Oshtemo Township’s Industry Drive Campus

A new industrial campus of about 40 acres at 1 Industry Drive, in the I-94 corridor, is planned at roughly 538,800 sq ft across three buildings: one 330,000 sq ft and two 104,400 sq ft.

Buildings that size call for a full pallet racking package from the first drawing. In a 330,000 sq ft floor, small aisle-width decisions multiply across hundreds of bays, so we model several options before anything is ordered.

Sizing the Two 104,400 sq ft Buildings

The two smaller buildings on the Industry Drive campus, at 104,400 sq ft each, suit a single tenant who wants storage and light assembly under one roof. Rack usually takes about two thirds of the floor, leaving room for staging and work cells.

We lay out the reserve block first, then carve staging lanes in front of the docks. If assembly sits on the opposite wall, a short run of carton flow can feed it from the reserve side.

Because the buildings are new, frame heights can be chosen to match the clear height exactly, with no compromises inherited from an older system.

Planning Selective Pallet Racks From Day One

Starting from an empty floor, we work in this order: inventory profile, forklift choice, aisle width, beam levels, then row placement against columns and docks. Selective pallet rack is usually the backbone.

The main thing to coordinate is the dock layout. Fast movers go near shipping; reserve runs deep into the building.

Pallet Racks for Manufacturing Growth Along US-131

The township's zoning ordinance includes I-R, I-1 and I-2 industrial districts plus a Business and Research Park district. Commercial and industrial growth follows the US-131 interchanges at West Main and Stadium Drive.

That mix brings logistics, manufacturing and technology tenants. A manufacturer may need pallet racks for raw material at receiving and finished goods at shipping in the same building.

Pushback and Carton Flow Rack for Picking and Reserve

Once the selective base is set, we look at where carton flow or pushback earns its place. Not every new building needs them; many do once order data is in hand.

Install is scheduled with the general contractor and your move-in date, with winter weather factored into deliveries.
